Name: Col. Everett Young
PB: Louis Ferreira
Journal:
colunderfire
Age: 41
Appearance: Everett is trained as a career military officer. His appearance is kept as tidy and as neat as possible, and he holds himself straight and strong.
Appearance-wise, due to the stint on Destiny, his hair is unkempt, and looking a bit more disheveled than he would usually be, but he still makes an effort.
He looks to be in peak physical strength for his age, likely due to his military career.
History: Everett Young @ Stargate Wikia
Powers/Talents: Everett is a normal human, nothing supernatural or special, however he does have honed leadership skills, and considerable experience dealing with tense and dire situations. Being a member of the SGC means that he's familiar with alien races, and rising to full-bird Colonel means that he's lead teams off-world. His calm, calculating nature helps with this.
Personality: On the surface, Colonel Everett Young is a calm, quiet and collected individual. He projects an air of authority, trained for many years in the US Air Force, and having led an SG Team off-world, working his way up to eventually becoming Commander of Icarus Base, home to the project to unlock the Stargate’s ninth Chevron. He is respected by his peers and the people under his command, and generally seems stoic, in control, and calm, especially in a crisis.
Underneath is another matter, however.
Whilst Everett may seem collected, it seems to mostly be a front. He has a turbulent family life, having constantly put his career ahead of his wife of two years. The deployment to Icarus was meant to be his last command, however Emily, his wife, stated “It’s always ‘one last command’,” leading to the assumption that he’s said this before.
After being stranded on-board Destiny, things only deteriorated between Everett and Emily. Whilst he was coping with life on Destiny, Emily found out about the affair Everett had been having with Lt. Tamara Johansen. She was suspicious of her husband beforehand, but her suspicions were confirmed by Colonel David Telford.
This, understandably, causes tension with Col. Young, his wife, and TJ, as he was also stranded on the ship with Lt. Johansen. He isn’t seen to deal with this kind of stress well, and it only complicated the matter when he found out that, through the affair, TJ was pregnant. Emily filed for divorce, being unable to handle Everett’s absence, as well as the affair.
Everett tries to hide behind his job, focusing solely on one objective; to return the people stranded on Destiny home. This is not made easier by Dr. Nicholas Rush. Rush constantly makes Young’s job more difficult, by hiding things, doing things behind his back and outright challenging his authority on more than one occasion.
When pushed, Everett is prone to violent outbursts. For example, he once left Dr. Rush alone on an alien planet after knocking him unconscious and, another time, he punched David Telford after learning he had been spending time with Emily. This seems more like a stress-related occurrence than violent tendencies. The events leading up to each outburst were very stressful, showing, again, that he doesn’t seem to cope well with stress outside of his comfort zone. Being a career Air Force officer, he’s not used to dealing with civilians outside of the military mentality, where the chain of command wavers.
However, he is shown to care deeply for the people he considers under his protection. When it first transpired that Destiny was running out of air, and the only way to buy more time was to seal off one of the Ancient shuttles that was bleeding atmosphere, Everett said that he couldn’t expect anyone to volunteer and made his way towards the shuttle. His plan was thwarted by Senator Armstrong, who got there first.
When it transpired that TJ was pregnant through Everett’s affair with her, He assured her that he would support her through it. When the baby was lost in a Lucian Alliance attack, Young seems to take the loss hard.
The SGC Military Personnel all look up to Young, Lt. Matthew Scott even going as far to say that they would never get back to Earth without him. This is likely due to his steadfast demeanour and confidence when dealing with military matters. Whenever anything threatened Young’s command, the military personnel always rallied around their commanding officer, showing that Everett manages to hold their respect and loyalty, even as a father figure to some of the younger members, like Lt. Scott.
Despite this, he is often torn between what will get the new crew of Destiny home, and what will help them survive. He often butts heads with Camille Wray and Nicholas Rush on this front, and his actions sometimes don't follow his advice, as he's forced to make a snap decision.
All around, Everett projects a cool, collected air, trying his best to remain a strong pillar for people to rally around. However, the insecurities that plague every human, the worries of normal life and the stress of an extraordinary situation cracks the silhouette Young tries to maintain, proving that he is, ultimately, human.
Why would your character be chosen? Everett may be a normal human, but he has been thrust into an abnormal situation. He would likely be chosen for his leadership skills, as well as his ability to remain calm under pressure.
How much does your character know about nonhumans? Being a member of the SGC, Everett is well-versed in the alien cultures of his home universe. He may not have met any personally, but he has knowledge of the Goa'uld, the Wraith, the Asgard and the Alterans, both the Ancients and the Ori. He has had run-ins with a race called the Nakai, even swapping conciousnesses with one and inhabiting one of their bodies. Whilst their understanding of that race is small, the humans on-board Destiny do know that they want the ship, and they are very hostile. They have encountered intelligent, microscopic insectoids, dubbed the "dust bugs", and a race called the Ursini, who were fighting robotic fighter drones intent on eradicating all technology that was not their own.
Why this character: Everett is a complex character. It'll be good to see how he'll deal with being suddenly relocated again. The time in Dagaz may help him to sort out some things that have been on his mind, without the constant threat being on Destiny provides.

Name: Character's name (and nickname, if they go by one)
PB: Who are you using for your character image? If icons are not uploaded to your character journal, please also include a link to an appropriate icon.
Journal: Link us to your character journal
Age: For characters like vampires or elves, include actual age and how old they look.
Appearance: Tell us about your character's physical appearance. Please also include any information that a person could tell from examining your character, such as posture, poise, frequent ticks.
Home World: Where does your character come from? Tell us about that place.
History: Please give us a few paragraphs about your characters' history, focusing on significant events that helped shape this character into the person he or she is.
Powers/Talents: If your character has supernatural abilities, list them here. Also include any strong talents or skills your character has.
Personality: This is really the meat of the application. You should get into what distinguishes your character from others. What are their goals? How would other people describe them? What do they desire, what are they afraid of? How do they present themselves, and what do they internalize?
Why would your character be chosen? Give us a sentence or two, guessing why your character might be chosen. Don’t worry about getting too deep or profound. You might pick a unique physical trait or an impressive ability. Just something that would make your character stand out from others in a way that would attract attention. For example, Helen of Troy might be chosen for her beauty. Xander Harris from Buffy might be chosen for his empathy. Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter might be chosen for her individuality, or lack of conformity. What makes your character unique?
How much does your character know about nonhumans? This will determine how much information about the Nysgods your character will have the option to bring into the game. For example, we might allow an Albus Dumbledore or a Rupert Giles to know a great deal of information about the Nysgods, while we will probably say that a George Costanza or a Cinderella would never have heard of them. If your character is very familiar with supernatural/alien/demon/etc species, please give us some detail about why they know this information. PLEASE NOTE this information will not affect your character's involvement in the metaplot either way.
Why this character: Why did you decide to play this character? What about them holds your attention? Do you think that you'll be able to keep this character voice and still find them interesting after playing them for awhile?

First-Person:[There's the clearing of a throat before a man's voice filters over the network.]
My name is Colonel Everett Young of Stargate Command. [A pause.] You're all hearing this because you know one Dr. Nicholas Rush.
I'd like to know what he's been doing whilst trapped here. Unfortunately, despite what you might think, or what you might have seen, Dr. Rush keeps things mostly private. If you know one thing, trust me... he's either lying, or not telling you everything.
[Another, longer pause.]
I'm not saying this to discredit him. He's a brilliant man, and I wouldn't be standing here now without him... But, unfortunately, I don't trust him enough to tell me the truth.
Any information would be welcome. Thank you in advance.
Third-Person: Sample!
Third Sample: [His head was pounding, and he hadn’t bothered to open his eyes just yet. Somehow, he gets the feeling that opening them wouldn’t help.
Still, he kind of has to.]
Ugh… What the…? [Ah, the familiar sound of someone waking up where they weren’t expecting. Young goes for the radio on his belt.] ...Not a dream. [He hadn't expected it to be one. Not after the intro the Nysgods had given him.]
Scott, this is Young, come in… [No response.] Damn… Rush. This is Young. Come in. [Static, for now.
Young, meanwhile, continues into the radio. Why? Because it makes him feel better.]
Listen, Rush. I have a damn good suspicion that you’re behind all this. I don’t know how, but I know you’ll know something. If you can hear me, please respond. Young out.
[With that, he lowers the hand that holds the radio, sighing.]
Definitely not a dream...
