Fandom: Stargate Universe
Name: Col. Everett Young
Canon Point: 20x02 "Gauntlet"
History: History
Personality: Col. Young is a man with many morals.
When they were stranded on the other end of the universe on-board Destiny, he tried his utmost to get everyone home. He tried to keep hope alive in everyone, and was forced to make some tough decisions during his command of the Destiny Expedition.
Forced into the command, Young faced many barriers, most notably in the form of Dr. Nicholas Rush. Rush's brash actions often forced Young and the rest of the crew into complicated situations, and his blatant disregard for Young's authority was a source of much anger and stress for Everett.
This eventually bubbled and boiled over to Young leaving Rush to die on an alien planet while he Gated back to the ship. Knowing he was finally rid of him, Everett never told the other crewmembers exactly what happened.
This extreme behavior is very rare, however, as Everett is often shown as level-headed and rational. The extreme stress of being put in the situation that they are currently in does nothing to help.
Under normal circumstances, Young is calm, level-headed and an excellent commander, being able to make snap decisions on his feet.
Skills | Powers: None.
First Person Sample: [Accidental Video] RUSH?! I know this is down to you! I know you're here! Answer me, damn it!
[The video feed opens to show a very angry, scruffy-looking man in a uniform that is clearly military. He notices the tablet and walks up to it.]
Lt. Scott? Sgt. Greer? T.J? Eli...? If any of you can hear me, and know where the hell Rush is, let me know, please. Young out.
Third Person Sample: Everett fades in and out of conciousness...
All he can feel is a thick, throbbing pain in the back of his head. He tries to move, but isn't able to. His body floating in a sea of pain. He's vaguely aware of someone beside him, and he tries to call out, but nothing comes out of his mouth.
He fades again....
This time, he can see more details of the room he was in. There was no-one with him this time, and the pain was just as bad. He could barely hold onto the fleeting, struggling sense of consciousness that was already slipping from his grasp. Wherever they were, he didn't recognise it. He fades again...
This is a dream. He knows it. He's stood in the kitchen, behind Emily as she washes the dishes. "Just one last posting." "Where?"
Everett pauses, and smiles reassuringly. "Safer than any other command. Just one last one, and I'll-" "It's always one last one. You'd prefer to be anywhere but here."
"What?" Everett sounds shocked, as he closes the gap between them and wraps his arms around Emily. "I love being here. How can you even say that to me?"
Emily sighs, kissing Everett on the forehead, her expression tired. "Everett, I love you, but..." She moves to push away from him. "I can't wait any longer..."
This image fades as Young slowly opens his eyes. The pain is less, but still there. He was in the room, again, with T.J. sat next to him.
... Now to find out what had happened...
